MARY AND JESUS, an ICON

This sculpture was created in the tradition of Russian and Greek icons, the main difference being that this icon is in bronze. The figures follow the distortions found in the old icons, which carry symbolic energy and meaning. The eyes are large for seeing and the mouth is small, while the love and sadness in Mary's face reveal a vision that encompasses Jesus's whole life.
